U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation

The US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation is a national coalition of more than 250 organizations working to change U.S. policy toward Israel and Palestine to support human rights, international law, and equality.

An emergency grant from Cultures of Resistance enabled the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation to produce a 30-second commercial spotlighting the U.S. role in Israel's December 2008-January 2009 war on the occupied Gaza Strip.  To view the commercial, click here. The US Campaign engaged in detailed discussions with national satellite television provider DIRECTV about airing the advertisement on its network; however, DIRECTV abruptly cancelled the ad after viewing the final version and refused to run it. DIRECTV's censorship of the ad became a national news story which was covered by various news outlets, advocacy organizations, and blogs. To view the press coverage of the DIRECTV censorship story, click here. After being prevented from airing the commercial on DIRECTV, the US Campaign placed the advertisement on 17 different blogs, which led to more than 9 million people viewing the ad and thousands of people clicking through to its website to take action to demand an end to U.S. military aid to Israel.
