Transparency International (TI)

Founded in 1993, Transparency International is the international NGO leading the fight against corruption. Forming coalitions with actors from all sectors of society genuinely seeking change, TI diagnoses corruption based on surveys, indices and other research, raises awareness of manifestations of corruption, advocates for reforms in laws, policies, and practices, and monitors trends in corruption incidence and the implementation of anti-corruption measures. It shares knowledge and tools with anti-corruption grassroots organizations, empowering them and making their voices heard in international fora. The TI movement consists of the International Secretariat (TI-S), located in Berlin, and more than 100 TI National Chapters and contact groups anchored in civil societies on all continents. TI combines the on-the-ground experience and outreach of its National Chapters--which are the cutting edge of the TI Movement around the world--with international expertise.

TI believes that corruption is both a cause of poverty and a barrier to overcoming it. Our foundation provides support to TI's new program on Poverty, Development and Corruption. Through this program, TI will strengthen its work on preventing corruption in development with advocacy, research, and the development of pilot projects to increase accountability in the implementation of pro-poor policies.
