The Global Fund for Women (GFW)

The Global Fund for Women plays a leading role in advancing women’s rights by making grants that support and strengthen women’s groups around the world. GFW mobilizes and redistributes resources that enable women to develop creative solutions to local, regional, and transnational challenges. It brings grantees and donors together in an international network that promotes women’s action for social change, equality, peace, and justice worldwide. Over more than two decades, GFW has provided $71.4 million in grants to more than 3,800 women-led organizations in 167 countries.

During times of crisis, such as the recent Israeli siege of and attack on Gaza, women’s organizations are among the first groups to coordinate relief for their communities and to organize for peace. The Global Fund for Women has supported grassroots women’s groups in Gaza and around the globe, through crisis and calm, for more than 20 years. Last year alone, the Global Fund supported 14 women’s groups in Palestine, including seven in Gaza, with a total of $190,500 in grants.

Support from the Caipirinha Foundation has been used to mobilize resources for women's rights groups in Gaza as they heal the wounds from the early 2009 attack, rebuild their communities, cultivate peace, and regain their foothold in their work to advance the rights of all Palestinian women and girls.
