Institute for Policy Studies (IPS)

The Institute for Policy Studies, founded in 1963, works with social movements to turn ideas into action for peace, global justice, and the environment. As an organization of public scholars, IPS helps provide information, resources, books, films, speakers, organizing, and more to U.S. and global movements for peace and against empire, against racism and inequality, for a healthy planet and more.

Support from our foundation is making it possible for the New Internationalism Project of IPS to work with and support U.S. and international organizations and coalitions, as well as UN agencies and appointees, working to challenge Israeli violations of Palestinian human rights using a human rights and international law-based framework. As part of the leadership of the UN-based International Coordinating Network on Palestine (which includes the U.S. Campaign to End Israeli Occupation as a U.S. affiliate), IPS works with the UN’s special rapporteurs on human rights in the occupied territories, the president of the General Assembly, and the Assembly’s Committee on the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, bringing civil society voices to the UN-based global debate. The goal is to push for governmental and UN enforcement of existing international laws and UN resolutions as the basis for ending Israel’s occupation and apartheid policies towards the Palestinians.
