Greenpeace International

Greenpeace's mission is to protect and conserve the environment, and to promote peace around the world. Greenpeace inspires people to take responsibility for our planet by highlighting the many environmentally sound and socially just solutions that offer hope for this and future generations. Equally important, Greenpeace investigates and exposes environmental abuse, and challenges the political and economic power structures that are an impediment to a sustainable future. Greenpeace is fiercely independent and accepts no funding from governments, corporations, or political parties.

Our support has helped Greenpeace draw attention to climate change, the biggest environmental threat we face today, and promote understanding and solutions. Greenpeace has made progress in highlighting the importance of preserving the Amazon not simply for its iconic value, but also for its biodiversity and role as climate regulator, as every preserved tree contributes to reducing CO2 emissions. Our foundation has helped Greenpeace take part in the United Nations meetings on climate change, document and prepare for the Kyoto Protocol climate negotiations that took place in Bali, and concentrate efforts and resources to effectively make use of the once-in-a decade opportunity to influence a global agreement within the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Copenhagen.
