End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes (ECPAT)

ECPAT is a network of organizations and individuals working together to eliminate the commercial and sexual exploitation of children. It seeks to encourage the world community to ensure that children everywhere enjoy their fundamental rights free from all forms of such exploitation. ECPAT stands for "End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes." In 1998, ECPAT started the Child Prostitution and Trafficking Prevention Project in Chiang Rai, Northern Thailand, seeking to combat sex tourism, sexual exploitation, pornography, and trafficking of children. It has become the Foundation to End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes, an all-Thai foundation project.

We support the Prevention Project in Chiang Rai, which is administered by six NGO partners working at the community level: YMCA Bangkok (Phayao province office), the Baan Huay Krai School in Chiang Rai, the Hill Area and Community Development Foundation in Chiang Rai, the Makhampom Theater Group, the Volunteer Group for Child Development in Chiang Rai, and the Center for Network Development of Children and Community in Mae Hong Sorn. The project is geared towards empowering women, children, and communities not to fight the commercial and sexual exploitation of children.
