DocuDays--September 22-27, 2009

DocuDays, the Beirut International Documentary Festival, remains the first festival in the Arab world exclusively dedicated to documentaries. It was founded in 1999 with the aim of raising public awareness for the non-fiction genre as an entertaining and informative tool. Unique in its area of expertise, location, and atmosphere, Docudays has become an established and well-attended event and an important meeting place for all kinds of fans--the professional, the novice, and the general public. In its last edition, over 10.000 people attended the festival, a number expected to increase along with audience attachment to this genre reflected in the founding of new documentary channels in the Arab, world and the introduction of extra documentary slots on established channels. The festival is going bigger, with more films to show, more activities, and more participation from Arab and international filmmakers and professionals.

The Caipirinha Foundation has supported the production of the Docudays Festival catalog and has also helped bring foreign filmmakers to the festival.
