CARE is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. CARE places special focus on working alongside poor women because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty. CARE has been working in the West Bank and Gaza since 1948 (with a short break from 1984 – 1994), initially implementing programs to help refugees after the Holocaust and delivering direct services such as CARE Packages®. Today, CARE is one of the largest nongovernmental organizations working in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and over the last 14 years CARE has implemented a range of programs supporting health services, water and sanitation infrastructure, food security, and sustainable livelihoods for nearly 1,000,000 people in the Palestinian territories. CARE has 18 experienced staff members in Gaza, strong relationships with local partners, and robust programs that are well-integrated into the community.

Support from our foundation goes to CARE's Gaza Response Fund. CARE's response involves providing essential emergency and primary health care assistance to health facilities and health partner organizations, water and sanitation, food, shelter, and non-food items (such as stoves, blankets, mattresses, and plastic sheeting to cover broken windows).
